Feet Feet Bo Beet Banana Fanna Fo Feet Me My Mo Meet...FEET

Mm, that song doesn't work quite as well with a name that begins with F.

Feet are the foundation (and the alliteration of today's post, ha!). I like to think that homebuilders are all pondering yogis. "Ah yes, if we want this house to exude strength while maintaining a sense of calm and comfort for the inhabitants we must, MUST, first and FOREMOST, have a strong foundation," said one builder to the other.

I do love feet. They're so strange, mostly because of the toes. Weird appendages with their own, rather dependent minds. It is only when you try to lower (or raise) one toe at a time do you realize their extreme need to be with the other toes. Many life lessons to learn, those toes. Even more peculiar is that despite their needy existence, they are really quite original. How often do you notice a big toe and think (or say) to yourself, "my god, that big toe and the big toe of my aunt could literally be twins, TWINS"?

Despite their seemingly important oxymoronic lifestyle, feet are frequently forgotten (poor things): squished into shoes, pounded into the ground, jumped on first thing in the morning. Enter a loving foot posture: Baddha Konasana. Yes, it is known for it's hip-opening qualities and deep stretch to the groin but it reunites the feet like two long lost twins on a television miniseries (it appears I have twins on the brain this evening).  Bring on the love for the bunions!! And if you find yourself feeling a bit sleepy and the guilt is starting to creep in because it has been months since your feet have seen one another, luck had her hand in the creation of Supta Baddha Konasana. Supta = laying down. Wha wha WHAT?!

9:27 PM: Feet, I love you. All is groovy.

How Did I Get Here?!

David Byrne brought up the question years ago. It appears I found the right time to answer: Tuesday June 22, 2010 at 6:54 pm. If you are looking for a profound, meaning-of-life document I will take this moment (moving into 6:55) to apologize. I have yet to figure out how I got here.

Three moments have passed and I am rolling about on an exercise ball (they burn more calories than a plain and simple chair...in the time that has passed so far, I feel that it is safe to assume I have burned at least 0.0032 calories) trying to produce something worthy of prying eyes. My decision to create this little blog (a log) is based on one simple idea: love. However, my inspiration to create this comes from all over the place and I feel as though I just cannot expand my brain far enough or stretch my arms out wide enough to really convey all of these feelings, ideas, thoughts and pictures into one container, website, book, bag, ear, eye...so, it seemed only fitting to begin (like I have so many times before) a blog.

Please stay tuned (really this is more of a mental reminder, I will be putting this as a reminder on my google calendar. Plants do not live unless they are watered, right?)

Post 1: 7:04 pm. I love you.
